Let’s face it, premature ejaculation is probably not something you want to talk about – you probably don’t even want to think about it. But the reality is that it’s one of the most common types of male sexual dysfunction.
Unfortunately, premature ejaculation will probably affect all men at one point in their life or another.
Premature ejaculation is when a man loses control over his ejaculation either before or just after sexual penetration. This often happens with minimal sexual stimulation. It can be a source of not only embarrassment for one or both partners, but can lead to future anxiety that will further exasperate the issue.
It is unclear exactly what causes premature ejaculation. In fact, as men gain age and sexual experience they usually gain the ability to delay or control their orgasm. There can be multiple circumstances including sex with a new partner, particular sexual situations, or an extended length of time since a man’s last ejaculation.
Mental contributors including depression, anxiety, and guilt, can also play a part in the matter. More contributing factors still, could point to medical conditions like injury, hormonal imbalances, or a reaction to certain medications.
The good news is premature ejaculation usually resolves itself in time. However, if this issue persists it’s important to consult your doctor in order to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
Some men find that employing distraction or relaxation techniques is helpful to delay ejaculation. Some still, find that abstaining from tobacco, street drugs, and alcohol can greatly increase their ability to control their ejaculation.
