Is there any way to tell if a man is suffering from low testosterone?
You bet! Just look at a guy’s waist size. In general, the larger the waist, the lower the testosterone. That’s because testosterone is normally broken down in the body’s fat cells. If you’ve got a lot of fat, in other words, your body breaks down testosterone extra quickly, leading to deficiency. And it turns out that abdominal fat, or “belly fat,” has a greater capacity to convert testosterone to estrogen than fat stored elsewhere, such as the limbs or buttocks.
