I’m in a solid relationship, we’re both STD-free, and my girlfriend is on birth control…Can I relax about not using condoms?

Harry’s advice:

Probably. Intrauterine devices (IUD) are the most effective form of birth control, with only a 1 percent chance of getting your girlfriend pregnant. Other methods are not as reliable. If I were to rank the effectiveness of each type of birth control, the pill and vaginal rings are right below IUDs. But both cervical caps and diaphragms worry me. If she is using reliable birth control and you are completely sure she is STD-free and monogamous, then enjoy.
